About Me
Thank you for visiting my website.
As a multidisciplinary visual artist, community educator, art commentator, and storyteller, my work is deeply rooted in a lifelong practice of observation and artistic expression. Born in rural Bengal, I spent my childhood wandering the narrow streets of my small village, absorbing the rhythms of rural life before moving to the bustling city of Mumbai, my upbringing in completely contrasting environments profoundly shaping my distinct artistic vision. Now creating from my quiet home studio in Sydney, where the landscape and surrounding waters influence my practice, a sense of space, weight, fluidity, and quiet endurance increasingly informs my use of texture, colour, and form. I draw inspiration from the natural world and its ever-changing hues, infusing my work with introspection, depth and continuity.
Women have long been an important source of inspiration in my practice, with many of my artworks shaped by observations of everyday life and diverse social and cultural contexts. This figurative language continues to inform my work, while evolving through contemporary sensibilities shaped by memory, geography, and lived experience.
Alongside representational work, my practice explores the relationship between place, time, memory, and abstraction. Fields, skies, terrain, water, and horizons appear not only as literal landscapes, but as felt spaces – places of grounding as well as movement. Earth reds, deep blues, pigment flows, light turquoise, soft greens, and sun-warmed yellows recur throughout my work. Through colour, texture, and medium, I seek to express both stillness and motion, solitude and connection.
My paintings are both individual and boundless, embodying deep connections to nature, and identity while reflecting moments of personal introspection. They form a study in contrasts, juxtaposing the timelessness of rural life, the fluid presence of the natural world, and the vibrancy of city life.
Over the years, my artwork has received recognition through features in publications, media, exhibitions, and private collections internationally. By blending culture, nature, and contemporary sensibilities, my paintings invite viewers to explore the layers of meaning within the shared human experience and the distinct paths we each travel — making my art both universal and intensely personal.
